Dessiner une Fleur de vie facilement en 6 étapes

How to draw a Flower of Life easily in 6 steps

Who hasn't spent hours during their childhood drawing mandalas or other geometric figures, losing count of the rosettes? During those moments of creation, we were totally focused, perhaps even in a semi-meditative state.

Today, we suggest you draw a Flower of Life, a well-known sacred geometry often drawn, yet whose meaning and benefits remain unknown to many.

Why draw a Flower of Life?

The Flower of Life drawing consists of the juxtaposition of several circles forming highly aesthetic rosettes, which have been found in various civilizations around the world for thousands of years. This geometric figure was associated with sacred geometry by Drunvalo Melchizedek, a New Age author who demonstrated that this symbol is linked to ancient spiritual beliefs and describes the fundamental aspects of space and time.

The meanings of the Flower of Life are numerous: many other sacred symbols are visible in this mandala, such as the vesica piscis and its representation of the duality of the world; the seed of life, which represents the 7 days of the creation of the world according to the Judeo-Christian religion; the tree of life, a symbol of wisdom, and many others. We also find the golden ratio, also called the divine proportion, which is found in all the fundamental geometries of nature.

The benefits of the Flower of Life have often been testified to by curious people who wanted to use this mandala in their daily lives. For example, to harmonize and recharge stones, food, and water, but also as a protective symbol that improves their well-being.

To benefit from the virtues of this ancient symbol, you can simply acquire objects featuring this pattern, or print the Flower of Life to ensure its proportions are respected. Finally, if you wish to create the Flower of Life to better understand its composition and connect with this figure, you can draw it yourself.

How to draw a Flower of Life?

To make a Flower of Life drawing, you will need at least: a compass, an eraser, and a sheet of white paper. We advise you to use a book as a base to prevent the compass from constantly slipping, forcing you to start over (been there, done that 😄).

1st Step: Draw the Vesica Piscis

Dessin de la vesica piscis

Once the first circle is drawn, place the compass on an edge of the circle and draw the second circle. You will then obtain the vesica piscis drawing, also known as the fish bladder or mandorla. This geometric figure represents the first stage of creation and symbolizes the union of things that were initially separate and of poles that are often opposite. This sacred symbol also represents ascension—that is, a fusion that allows one to rise to a new state of life.

2nd Step: Draw the triqueta

dessin de la triqueta

The triqueta drawing or tripod of life is obtained by adding a circle centered on the intersection of the first two circles. Many meanings are associated with it. The most well-known is as a symbol of the Trinity (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit) in the Christian religion. It was also found extensively on runestones in Northern Europe. It had a religious meaning and shows a resemblance to the Valknut symbol, traditionally associated with Odin in Norse mythology.

3rd Step: Draw the seed of life

Add 4 circles to the Triqueta around the central circle and you will obtain the famous Seed of Life drawing. This sacred geometry, composed of the first 7 circles of the Flower of Life, represents the first 7 days of creation in the Judeo-Christian religion. It is a symbol of blessing and fertility.

4th Step: Draw the egg of life

Dessin de l'oeuf de vie

Adding 6 additional circles around the seed of life allows us to obtain the egg of life drawing, which is composed of 13 circles.

Drunvalo also asserts in his book that this structure is adopted by the first eight cells of our body. These cells are located in our exact geometric center, and they are the only ones that never die and are regenerated. This geometric pattern is therefore equivalent to the pattern of a multi-cellular embryo on the third day of its development.

5th Step: Draw the heart of the Flower of Life

Add 6 circles around the egg of life pattern and you will obtain the geometric figure above. You are almost there; the backbone of the Flower of Life drawing is already finished! 😀

You must now reveal all the petals of the circles in this beautiful geometry. To do this, you must draw semi-circles inside the current figure. These semi-circles are to be drawn by placing your compass on the outer intersections of the pattern (the small points furthest on the outside of the figure). We advise you to make small dots with a grey pencil as we have done, so you know exactly where to place your compass at each step. Don't hesitate to use these markers for help.

Once these petals are drawn, you should have the geometric figure above. You will notice that at this stage, the circles are not 100% complete. First, we advise you to place your compass on the outermost point of these circles as shown in the photo above. By drawing these semi-circles, you will be able to finish the central petals of the Flower of Life drawing very easily.

Secondly, to draw the outermost petals of the Flower of Life symbol, you must draw semi-circles outside the figure by placing yourself on each of the outermost points of the pattern. Each semi-circle should normally meet the next semi-circle: it is on this point of intersection that you must place your compass to draw all the final petals, as shown in the photo above.

After finishing all the petals of your figure, you can erase all the outer circles. There is only one step left: drawing the outlines of the sacred geometry.

6th Step: Finalize the Flower of Life drawing

At this stage, only the outlines of this pattern are missing. It is only a detail, but it is very important for this symbol when one wishes to draw it in this form. It has very often been found with its outlines, whether in temples, monuments, or other ancient and sacred buildings. The first outline was almost always present, and the second slightly less so. The first outline symbolizes the gathering, the whole, grouped into a single pattern. The second outline makes the geometry more aesthetic, so you are not obligated to draw it.

You can draw them easily by placing your compass at the center of the figure and drawing a circle that passes through all the ends of the pattern. To draw the second outline and ensure the proportions are harmonious, we advise you to use the maximum spacing of the petals of the Flower of Life drawing as a reference distance between the first outline and the second.

Before ending this article, we want to share one last possible step for the drawing of this sacred geometry: customizing your drawing by coloring it in.

7th Step (optional): color the Flower of Life

This step is optional and allows you to personalize your Flower of Life drawing. It will surely remind you of childhood memories 😄

Know that every color has a meaning and will allow you to customize what you want this sacred symbol to bring into your life as closely as possible to your expectations.
